Please read the information below which gives details of our PE and Sport Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.

We receive an annual PE and sports funding grant which should be used to improve the quality of PE and sport offered to our children. The funding should be used to:-

• develop or add to the PE and sport activities that your school already offers
• make improvements now that will benefit pupils joining the school in future years

We use the majority of our funding to provide specialist sports coaching in school and through our extra curricular clubs. This coaching allows us to offer a wider variety of sporting experiences that children would otherwise not be able to access and our teachers work alongside the coaches to develop their skills to ensure the standard of coaching is sustainable in the future, even if the funding is removed. The focus of our sports provision is very much on inclusion and challenge and we receive very positive feedback from staff, parents and children on their uptake of the sporting opportunities provided through the funding.

A small amount of the funding is used to affiliate to sporting associations to ensure we are able to access important local children's competitions and tournaments such as the West Berkshire Cross Country Championships and Newbury Swimming Gala.

Our most recent data for year 6 swimming showed:

86% meeting national curriculum requirements for swimming and water safety.

86% could swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres

89% used a range of strokes effectively [for example, front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke]

82% could perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations?
